Do you have a strong interest in developing software for highly complex space systems? Do you want to take part in the Galileo program?
Your day to day activities
As a Java Software Engineer on our team, you will be working on a Mission Critical System that is part of the Galileo infrastructure. The system is characterized by a high level of complexity with the added challenge of it being operational and requiring next to 100% availability. Your work will contribute to the security aspects and data protection of this navigation mission. Your main task is software development according to the component and element requirements, which includes investigation, solution proposal, implementation, and review of code. You are responsible for ensuring all code you develop. Other responsibilities are performing peer-reviews, reviewing the required documentation and providing support on-site personnel from your expertise. You have to be willing to travel to client sites and other CGI offices around Europe.
Things you need to be successful
You are well-organized, energetic and have a high level of attention to detail. You have advanced analytic skills and are a quick learner. You have a strong interest in software development in a highly complex space system, are inquisitive and able to investigate technical problems. You also have:
• A Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Information Technology/Communications (or equivalent), or experience demonstrating equivalent working level;
• Experience with Object-oriented programming languages (preferably Java);
• Experience in software design and principles is desirable;
• Experience with GSWS standards or equivalent is desirable;
• Experience with space projects is desirable.
The successful candidate must hold a valid EU Personal Security Clearance at the level of SECRET or be able and willing to apply for a Security Clearance.
Your working environment
With almost 40 years in the industry, CGI Space is a growing business with exciting projects and prospects across the Navigation, Security, Earth Observation and Satcoms domains. We currently have around 500 members working on projects in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. You will get the opportunity to work for Galileo. Galileo is Europe’s own global satellite system and currently consists of a constellation of 22 satellites. It is capable of providing a highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control. The system is still under development and has recently entered the Exploitation Phase. Our team is responsible for the development of the Key Management Facility of the Galileo Mission Segment.
We want to get the best out of you
When you work at CGI, you are right on a challenging workplace with professional colleagues and you are a building block within a close community. We encourage you in your development and offer you all the space. Growth is self-evident.
